Contract supplement manufacturer Vitaquest International (West Caldwell, NJ) released its Top 2026 Dietary Supplement Trends Report.

The report shows plant-based proteins and nootropics will be among the fastest growing trends in 2026. Other key growth areas include sports nutrition, gut health, longevity, women’s health and hydration.

In addition to the specific supplement trends, there will also be several manufacturing trends that will shape the industry. According to the report, powders and capsules showed an upward trend with an 8 percent increase and a 5.3 percent increase, respectively. Gummies notably experienced an 8 percent decline and tablets decreased 0.9 percent.

“For brands looking to optimize product format based on consumer preferences, powders and capsules are currently the most promising conventional options. Difficulty swallowing pills and pill fatigue are leading consumers to seek alternative delivery formats, such as chewable, effervescent and fast-melt tablets,” said Lauren Samot, RD, commercial innovation leader at Vitaquest.

Vitaquest also observed several consumer trends such as seeking personalized supplements that cater to individual, unique health needs. Services such as DNA, lifestyle and microbiome analyses, and wearable devices such as the Oura Ring and Apple Watch may help provide guidance on personalized supplements. Consumers can also look for supplements formulated with a focus on demographic and condition-specific or lifestyle-specific considerations.

“With category growth in these areas and rising demand for advanced delivery forms, the market is becoming both more innovative and competitive,” said Vitaquest President and CEO Patrick Brueggman. “Increasingly informed consumers favor products combining efficacy, transparency, and convenience. By aligning product development with emerging science, evolving consumer preferences, and validated quality standards, companies can position themselves for success in the next wave of supplement innovation.”
